Mice will only need an opening the size of a dime to squeeze into your home, and a rat can get through a hole the size of a quarter.
– Water: Water is something that is harder to come by when the earth is frozen. Your home has enough water to go around. They don’t take much water to survive, and your home will give them exactly what they need. Make sure you fix any leaking that could be happening in your home to keep from attracting mice and other pests throughout the entire year, but especially during the winter.
– Food: When a rodent has found a warm place with water, the next thing they will start looking for is food. Mice and rats will eat the same kind of foods that you eat. If they can get to any food in your pantry, they will certainly help themselves. If the boxes that hold your dry goods are cardboard rather than plastic, they will simply gnaw their way through it to get to the food they desperately want and need. Store food properly to avoid this problem.
