Mold Removal FAQs
Does the type of mold matter?
No. According to the CDC, there are many types of mold that can occupy a structure, and none of them belong in your home. Our green treatment materials and methodology eliminate all molds the same way, so you do not need lab testing to identify the species before treatment can begin.
Can I remove mold myself?
Sometimes. The EPA’s guideline is that surface mold on a hard, non-porous surface smaller than about ten square feet can usually be cleaned by a homeowner. Anything larger, anything in drywall, insulation, or carpet, or anything that keeps returning after you clean it should be handled by a professional. Disturbing a larger colony without containment spreads spores through the rest of the house.
Should I test for mold before calling?
Usually not. If you can see mold or smell it, you have mold, and a test result does not change what needs to happen. There are no federal standards for acceptable indoor mold levels, so the money is better spent on finding the moisture source and doing the removal. Testing does make sense for real estate transactions, insurance claims, or verifying a remediation after the fact.
What if the mold is in a finished area?
